History

Dolores Eastern Samar was originally a barrio of Oras, another municipality in Eastern Samar. It became an independent municipality on April 14, 1959, by virtue of Republic Act No. 2141.

During the Japanese occupation in World War II, Dolores was a stronghold of the guerrilla forces, who fought against the Japanese Imperial Army. The town was later liberated by the Allied forces in 1945.

In 1965, Dolores was hit by a devastating typhoon, which caused widespread damage to the town and claimed many lives. The town has since recovered and has continued to develop economically and socially.

Today, Dolores is known for its natural attractions, such as the Luman Falls, which is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The town is also home to several festivals, including the Sinulog Festival, which is held in honor of the Sto. Niño every January.
